I have UID Mirena and let me tell you- it's a big pain!
I have all the horrid symptoms, and i have cysts due to the UID- My OB/GYN confirmed this.
I am 16 and my mom is NOT letting me have this taken out, even though I explained to her I would gladly take the Implanon without hesitation. I don't want an UID being put into my organ, and I don't want all my hormones going crazy. I need help and advice. Can anyone help here?
Thanks

YES! Demand that IUD be removed and find something less invasive with less side effects.

Mom means well, trying to keep you from getting pregnant, but you have a choice in what goes into your body.

If you have one monogamous partner, then condoms and spermicide jelly should do the trick, if you would use it every time.

You mean IUD.

You can't have something implanted in you without consent (yours) and yes it can come out with your consent (and without an adults). Actually I am appalled one was placed on someone so young, it is a poor choice for a young person especially if she is not with a long term and monogamous partner and if she has not given birth before.

The IUD has less hormones in it then Implanon, they both use the same mechanism to prevent pregnancy.

Well, I am assuming you have a child, right? Because you can't get Mirena put in unless you have had a child.

If you already have a child I would think that your OB/GYN would be able to take your opinion into account about your birth control. I was able to talk to my OB/GYN starting at 15 or 16 about my birth control option and I didn't have a child.

I wasn't judging, I fully answered your question. Although I would seriously reconsider your doctor. I know they hesitated giving me Mirena because I had a c-section, my doctor said it was only really approved for women who had a full-term vaginal birth.

What does your mother have to do with this? This is your health! Did you need her permission to get it put in? Is that why you're asking?

Get it taken out and use a different type of birth control. What b.c. does your ob/gyn recommend for you?

Here is a link to different types:

Yes, you can have the IUD removed without your mother's consent. I would suggest you have it removed and then wait until you are fully grownup and ready for babies before having sex. Or else your next question might be about abortion vs adoption for your unwanted baby.
