My husband and his siblings were taken from their parents at a very young age by the State of New York. He doesnt know the name of the adoption agency and wants to get his original adoption records along with the original birth certificate so that he can find his real mothers name. He remembers his last name but isnt sure if he is spelling it. He cant remember his father or mothers names. Wasnt sure how to begin our search to find his real parents. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you lived in the UK this would be relatively easy to do. However, I understand that in the USA life is made much harder for adoptees who seek information.

I don't understand why this should be but perhaps if you speak to an adoption social worker they will be able to give you some pointers.

Adoptees must be free from a law legalizing the falsification of permanent records. A bill signed by Governor Lehman in 1935 and enacted in 1938 which nullifies the inalienable and civil right of a person to know the actual facts of their birth and obtain a copy of their original birth certificate

More people need to speak up and help restore the rights of adoptees to their own Birth Certificates.

The New York State Adoption information registry will throw you a few crumbs, but will withold much information, which can be both humilating and frustrating:

In most states adoptees don't have access to original birth records. There is a huge push to change these laws recently.

because of the fact after the adoption is finalized, the beginning mom as not extra criminal rights over information approximately that infant than I do. on the different hand, the particularly scientific archives stored via the medical doctors and scientific institution bearing on the being pregnant and beginning are available to the beginning mom. it extremely is extremely like the child now no longer exists after the adoption is finalized... a minimum of from the beginning mom's criminal attitude. to boot, there is not any information on the OBC that the beginning mom could want. As for the adoptee, he/she could desire to have get right of entry to to their scientific history for the destiny. Adiotees do have get right of entry to to their very own scientific archives notwithstanding the call of their mom and dad is bumped off.
