I haven't bought any adoption books in the last few years. I have almost everything up till that point. Reality adoption (lifton, verrier, soll, salinger) is what I already have. I would like to know of some fairly recent books that are of this magnitude.

When I buy adoption books, I always buy 2, my daughter that I am reunited with collects and enjoys them.

Any suggestions? I have an Amazon gift card burning a hole in my purse!

I would suggest The Girls....first and foremost (it is a must read for mothers), The Baby Thief by Barbara Raymond, and Adoption: Uncharted Waters, by David Kirschner. An old one that is very interesting is Babies Remember Birth, which I found more interesting and more compelling than Primal Wound. If the things in Babies Remember Birth are factual, and the research is there, then Primal Wound is a given!

Good luck. An Amazon card is a mixed blessing! LOL. I spend it about a million times before I ever buy anything! Enjoy!!!

Sacred Bond by Phylis Chesler. This book examines the "Baby M " surrogacy case (Mary Beth Whitehead and the Sterns and the child they created) and the wider implications. Chesler gets into adoption and the treatment of single mothers who are targeted for their babies.

Growing in the Dark by Janine Baer. Tells how the records were sealed in California, in 1935, with ties to social worker and baby stealer Georgia Tann. CA influenced the rest of the country.

"the Girls Who Went Away" by Anne Fessler. It gave me a new perspective as to what my f Mom went through, and why she behaves the way she does. My n sibs read it too, and were amazed.
